A dialogue from the movie Blood Diamond:
"Solomon: You are how old?
Archer: Me? I'm 31.
Solomon: Do you have no wife?
Archer: No.
Solomon: ...no children?
Archer: No.
Solomon: ...and no home?
Archer: No.
Solomon: But you have money, yes?
Archer: No...some.
Solomon: ...but not enough?
Archer: No
Solomon: If ya get this diamond, you will have enough money, yes?
Archer: Yes.
Solomon: ...and you will get the wife and children.
Archer: Probably not, no.
[Solomon chuckles]
Archer: What?
Solomon: ...I'm confused.
Archer: Yeah? ...Makes two of us my bro. "
We all know deep inside that - we don't know where we are heading. We all picture a home in the lush green fields blooming with yellow flowers and the chatter of birds and children..settled-ideal.
Yet we run...after money...after fame...after people...Do we even have enough time to sit and think of where we are headed? And in this wild race of God alone knows where the end point is- we loose- so much of ourselves- emptied , hollowed, hardened, being pushed, pushing others...we just run. Confusing and complicating to the core. Simplicity is just one picture hung on the overtly decorated living room of a house waiting to be made a home.

Well donno bout others, but I don't live to get wife and children. I live to have a good car someday, a combined Plasma TV with a home theater, and many more spanky luxuries in life. Bottom line, I m greedy, and so is everyone else. If anyone wants wife and children, its either because everyone next door's got it or if wife and children is what you want! Different people have different needs, it all depends on what you see. What you see, is what you want. It starts from the very beginning with you as a child. A small child when born doesn't know what a toy is, but when you show it to him/her, he/she wants it, and wants it bad! Its just seeing something and realizing you want it. That's how Life goes, so go ahead wait for the next big thing you see and figure, that's your goal for the future!
ReplyDeleteWife and children is just an idea of portraying the simplicity ...it can be just about anything.. Except that in our journey of achieving it...we don't forget the cause...
